Launched in May 2008 Mouthpiece is an online community research forum for registered members who are MGN3 brand users.
Members are invited from our Reader Panel and therefore we have background demographic data and are able to target our invitations to discussion forums according to demographic or topic of interest.
A first in the newspaper market, we have sought to lead the way in increasing accountability and developing a greater understanding of our readers and their lives.
The site has two types of forum. Closed forums that are ‘invite only’ discussion areas which are moderated and analysed. Participants are identified by demographic or topic of interest. We are able to prompt with visuals. These are open for a specific time period only.
Open forums can be accessed by members any time. There are five ‘topic areas’ (State of the Nation, In The News, About Your Paper, Sports and Entertainment) plus a poll. Many forums subjects are updated on a daily basis.
We also run polls – closed question votes which can be changed very quickly.
Mouthpiece is designed to help us gain qualitative insights into the “how” and “why” of our readers actions and to provide a continuous real-time dialogue.
